Sarrià-Sant Gervasi and Horta, today residential
area, have their western limit on the Collserola range of hills.
Sarrià, Sant Gervasi and Horta were formerly small independent
towns until the early 20th century when they were absorbed by
Barcelona.
Sarrià is
a very well-off district. Its old quarter, with narrow and steep
streets, is situated around Plaça del Consell de la Vila
and the market. Its main road, Carrer Major de Sarrià,
is pedestrian-only from Plaça de Artós as far as
Passeig de la Bonanova.
The district of Sant Gervasi is
bordered on the east at Travessera de Gràcia. Its main
streets are Carrer Balmes, Plaça Molina and Plaça
Joaquim Folguera. It also includes Avinguda Tibidabo, flanked
by large stately homes and luxury offices.
The district of Horta is
in the north of the city and is characterised by steep streets.
One of its attractions is the Modernist villas and the country
houses that have remained standing.
