Initially designed as an English-style residential
garden city, the park designed by Gaudí was sold to the
City Council in 1923 for public use. As well as a pleasant stroll,
you will have some magnificent views of the city.
The park has two entrances. There are informative maps in Braille
at both of them. We recommend entering via the Carmel road (secondary
entrance), since there is a car park there and it has places
reserved for disabled persons.
On being on the side of a hill, the land has some steep gradients.
The routes are by ramps (generally steep) or by stairs.
At the foot of the main flight of stairs is the bar, souvenir
shop and toilet facilities. Each toilet facility has adapted
booths for wheelchair users. There are also two pavilions, inaccessible,
which were once the porters’ lodges.
During the construction of the park, Gaudí lived in what
is today the home of the Gaudí Museum, designed by his
pupil Francesc Berenguer. Although it is not accessible, it can
be seen from the outside. Access is via a cobbled ramp with a
12-14% gradient. A guided visit can be made through a mobile
phone calling 3999 if the operator is Movistar, or 629 003 997
if it is another operator.
