Casa Milà, known as La Pedrera, the quarry, is the work of Antoni Gaudí and was built between 1906 and 1910. With its characteristic sculptural façade, it is one of the most important residential buildings designed by the architect and one of the most imaginative in the history of architecture.

Its main entrance is on level ground and there is also a side entrance with a rather steep ramp. The building has two lifts: one of the period, called the noble lift (for six persons), and the other recently installed, for eight persons, which leads to all the upper floors and the terrace, although people in wheelchairs cannot move around it due to the gradients and steps that the roofing area possesses.

The shop-bookshop can be reached by ramp from the inner courtyard, which has four steps to the entrance in Carrer Provença. On the first floor, used for temporary exhibitions and with technical aids for the blind, there is a stair lift platform that enables access to all the parts of the building. The period floor can be visited free of difficulties in a wheelchair, and in the Golfes (the loft) there are correctly sized ramps attached to the wall. Access to the basement, where the auditorium is, is by a steep ramp, since it is the old route to the stables. There is a special toilet booth on the ground floor, correctly adapted.
For both a tour of the building or to visit a temporary exhibition, audio guides in different languages can be hired.

Catholic church of the Discalced Carmelite Order. It has a side entrance with a gentle ramp and another ramp inside to reach the main altar. It is a good idea to visit it during mass in order to fully appreciate the lighting of the mosaics by Lluís Bru, author of those decorating the Palau de la Música, and the paintings.

The Sagrada Familia is the work of the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, and his most ambitious project. Gaudí began working on it in 1883, and the construction of the temple has still not been completed today.

The most accessible entrance is in Carrer Sicília, since there are no turnstiles there. The routes around the temple precinct are mainly via ramps. The majority of them are quite steep, even more than 16%, which makes it essential to go accompanied. The towers cannot be visited in wheelchair, since there are three steps to go up in order to reach the lift, which, furthermore, is very small. The precinct has two adapted toilet facilities, located at opposite ends of the temple.

One of the accessible rooms shows the informative video about the school building for the workers’ children, with projections subtitled in Spanish or English. Audio guides can be hired for 3 e. Visually-impaired people can ask to touch the cardboard model. The official website of the temple www.sagradafamilia.org provides a virtual visit.

Casa Batlló is the result of a total reform, artistically designed by Gaudí, of an old conventional house built in 1877. The main entrance to the building has a small step but there are portable ramps to overcome it. Inside the property there is a period lift which is very small, just 1.20 x 1 m, with doors that open inwards. In the case where a user’s wheelchair does not fit into the lift, the staff can provide a smaller one that ensures access to the lift. There are no adapted toilet facilities.

The ticket booths have sound amplification. Alongside the entrance you can ask for audio guides in Spanish, Catalan, French, English, German or Italian. For blind people there is a text in Braille of the audio guide commentaries and there is a map in relief and in Braille. For deaf people all the text of the audio guide is available on paper and in different languages.

The façade of this building, the work of Josep Puig i Cadafalch, recalls that of the 17th-century Flemish houses. Its windows are inspired by neo-Gothic style, and the ceramic pieces on the upper part of the building are the original ones. It can only be visited from the outside and on the ground floor, where the Modernism Information Office is located, and which is reached via a step (Tel. 93 488 01 39).

This building, work of the architect Salvador Valeri Pupurull, is a private house and cannot be visited, but taking a look at the rear façade is well worth it. Impressive and brightly coloured, it corresponds to number 316 of Carrer Còrsega.
