The Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona MACBA
houses an important collection of artistic creations from the
last 50 years. As well as the permanent exhibition, it organises
temporary exhibitions and activities regarding contemporary art
and culture. Access is on level ground.
The different floors of the building are connected vertically
by a series of lifts for eight persons, a spiral staircase and
by ramps with an 8% gradient but with a very long route, each
of them approximately 50 metres. The shop is on the ground floor.
Wheelchairs are provided on loan to people with temporarily reduced
mobility who need them to make a visit. The building has two
correctly adapted toilets, one on the ground floor and one on
the first floor. There is the possibility of using an audio guide,
in Spanish, Catalan or English, only on the ground floor, that
corresponds to the permanent exhibition.

The Maritime Museum is in the Reials Drassanes (Royal Shipyards),
built in the 12th century, a unique example of civil Gothic architecture,
beneath imposing medieval arches. The star of the museum is the
life-size replica of the galleon captained by John of Austria
in the Battle of Lepanto (1571), an absolute must visit for lovers
of the sea.
Access to the building is via a solid ramp, although the route
is quite flat, and to the galleon by a wheelchair lift. The entrance
price includes an audio guide in different languages. Both the
museum and the cafeteria-restaurant have adapted toilet facilities.
The cafeteria includes a pleasant open-air terrace.

Located in a Modernist building designed by the
architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the Zoology
Museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions about zoology
and biological diversity.
Access to the building is by ramps. There is a spacious panoramic
lift that connects all the floors. The adapted toilet facilities
are in the basement 1 (staff area) and is correctly adapted.
The whole exhibition includes maps in Braille and high relief.
You may hire an audio guide if you wish.

This series of historic buildings is made up of
the Palau Comtal (Count’s palace), from the 11th century,
residence of the kings of Catalonia and Aragon, which features
the Saló del Tinell and the chapel of Santa Ágata,
from the 14th century; the tower-viewpoint of King Martí (16th
century) and the Casa Padellàs, a Gothic-Renaissance palace.
A visit can be made to the archaeological underground located
beneath the square (4,000 m2), which shows the Roman Barcelona.
The side entrance to the museum building is on level ground;
the main entrance has a step. The museum has a lift for eight
people. Part of the underground route, over the ruins, is made
on metallic walkways with small holes. There is a wheelchair
lift to reach one of the rooms.
In all the toilets, the women’s booth is the one adapted
for disabled people.

In the Manning Courtyard, the old cloister of the Charity House,
cultural events are held. Entrance to both the terrace and the
courtyard is on level ground. It has a special accessible toilet
facility, although you should ask for the key as it is normally
closed.
The CCCB is a multidisciplinary exhibition and activity centre
that covers fields as diverse as music, cinema, dance, performance
and everything that involves artistic experimentation and innovation.
Courses, debates, conferences and city itineraries, etc. are
also organised there.
The entrances are on level ground. The different floors are connected
by lift or by indoor ramps with a steep gradient and a very long
route. There are accessible toilet facilities.

Free-entry cultural centre and art gallery, on the ground floor
of which is Official Cultural Information Point of the city.
The entrance is on level ground and the indoor ramps vary between
steep 10% and 14% gradients. The building has a very spacious
glass lift. On the second floor are two 14% gradient ramps. There
are accessible toilet facilities.

Located in the old convent of Sant Agustí,
this museum provides us with an explanation of the culture and
history of chocolate. Access is by means of a ramp attached to
the façade, without railings. The women’s toilet
is adapted.
The Picasso Museum of Barcelona has the largest
collection from the painter’s formative years. It is situated
in one of the many 14th-17th-century palaces that are to be found
in Carrer de Montcada.
The entrance is on level ground. There are two very spacious
lifts, suitable for 13 and 26 people. To use them, the visitor
must be accompanied by museum staff. To get into the temporary
exhibition room there is a wheelchair lift. There is an adapted
booth in the toilets.

The Textile and Clothing Museum provides a historical
tour of the art and technique of weaving, clothing, embroidery
and lacework. Located in a medieval palace, it is entered by
a beautiful Gothic cobbled courtyard, crossing a Baroque doorway.
There is a step to reach the courtyard. The building has a spacious
lift that goes up to the top floor. There is an adapted toilet
facility in the main toilet area.
Situated in the same building as the above museum,
the Museum of Pre-Columbine Art houses examples of the majority
of styles of the pre-Hispanic cultures of Middle America, Central
America, Andean America and the Amazons. Access to the ticket
office is on level ground, but on reaching the exhibition rooms
on the first floor, entry to the museum must be made via the
Textile Museum. Wheelchair users will always be accompanied,
since they must use the lift and toilet facilities of the Textile
Museum.

Opened in 1973 in the building of an old bank,
the Wax Museum exhibits 300 wax figures, from both the real and
fictional world. The original armoured safe of the bank is kept
in the chamber of horrors. The museum has a spacious lift. The
accessible routes are especially for people in wheelchairs and
must always be taken accompanied by museum staff. In the cafeteria
there is a minimally accessible toilet facility, which is reached
via a portable ramp.

The Museum of Erotica possesses a large exhibition
of erotic art and culture from throughout history. It is situated
on a first floor. The main entrance is reached by a long stretch
of stairs. To reach the exhibition in a wheelchair, you must
ask a steward to accompany you to the rear entrance, going around
the building on quite a long and difficult route. This door leads
to a spacious lift. The museum has just one adapted toilet for
men and women that has no support bar.

This museum bears the name of its founder, a sculptor, historian
and passionate collector. It is made up of two sections: the
sculpture collection, with Spanish works of art from the pre-Roman
period until the 19th century; and the Collectors Museum, a testimony
to everyday life from the 15th to 19th centuries.
In the side entrance, by Carrer dels Comtes, there is a small
ramp to enter the museum. The building has a lift for eight people
that connects all the floors except for the third floor. The
summer courtyard cannot be reached since the only access is by
stairs. There are also only stairs to the crypt. There is an
adapted toilet facility.

El Born, the old central fruit market, was to become
the Barcelona Province Library until during the preparatory works
the ruins were discovered of a part of the Ribera district from
the 17th and 18th centuries. This is currently in works, the
aim being to recover these archaeological remains. There is a
viewpoint which is open at weekends. Access is on level ground
and entrance is free. There is no place reserved in the car park
for people with reduced mobility or toilet facilities.
