The Palau de la Música Catalana is one of the main concert halls in the world and one of the finest examples of Modernism. It was designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner between 1905-1908. UNESCO declared the Palau a World Heritage Site in 1987.

The building has several floors, which are connected by three large lifts. You can discover the building without having to attend a concert by joining one of the guided visits that are organised daily. In the Sala Gran, the grand hall, the best area for spectators in wheelchairs is the side boxes. In the Sala Petit Palau space is set aside in the last row. The latter hall has a lift platform for speakers. There are accessible toilet facilities for both sexes.

The Casa de l’Ardiaca is the old archdeacons’ residence. It was built taking advantage of the Roman wall of the city, and rebuilt in the 15th century in Gothic style. Today, after several reforms, the building houses the Historic Archive of the City. Only the courtyard and vestibule can be visited, where part of the Roman wall stands. This courtyard is famous for seeing the traditional rite of the ou com balla (a “dancing” egg on the fountain spout) on Easter day. Access is via a ramp to the side of the façade.

Construction began of Barcelona Cathedral, in late Gothic style, in 1298. However, its façade was not completed until the end of the 19th century. The streets surrounding it are correctly paved and are pedestrian only. In the Plaça de la Catedral there is a public car park that has reserved places and connects to the street via a lift.

Both the main entrance to the cathedral and the entrance to the cloister have several steps. The security service must be contacted in order to go in by the accessible entrance of the doorway in Plaça de Sant Iu (facing the Marès Museum), that has a portable rubber ramp with a steep gradient. The route is quite long: you have to border the whole floor of the main aisle, with very little signposting. The cloister, once inside, is on level ground, as is the main aisle. To reach the toilet facilities, which are not adapted, there are two steps. In the main aisle of the cathedral there are three fixed audio guides, which cost 1 euro, in several languages. There is also one in the cloister that explains and describes its contents to all visitors.

The cathedral terrace can be reached by taking a spacious lift for 10 persons, which is reached after overcoming three steps with the help of the staff. Entrance costs 2 euros. The terrace has a metallic walkway, but ends in a step. The holes in the walkway are a little bit too big for people who are using a walking stick. The upper level of the terrace can only be reached by stairs.

The Cathedral Museum features the collection of painting dating from the 14th to 18th centuries. It is reached via the cloister, and the entrance has three steep steps.

This luxury palace, built between 1886 and 1888, was designed by Gaudí at the behest of the Güell family. Visits to the building are free and guided in groups. At the front door is a period bevelled kerbside, with a steep gradient.

The lift is old and very small (1 m x 0.80 m) and has a step to get into it. The terrace is inaccessible. Access to the stables is via a step ramp and the flooring is irregular. There is an accessible toilet booth, at a distance from the main toilet area.
